Exhausted. I spent a full week being sick and trying to recover from being sick. I am NEVER doing that again. "Working from home" is awesome, but I really DID work from home and wow, I didn't get any rest nor sleep and I really needed it.

Anyhow, all better now. In case people were wondering where I vanished to. ^_^

I've also gotten back into writing! Oh how I missed it!!

How is everyone?

From the Daily OM

August 11, 2008
Growing Pains
Difficult Times
It can be very challenging to maintain a positive attitude and a measure of faith when you are in the midst of difficult times. This is partly because we tend to think that if the universe loves us we will experience that love in the form of positive circumstances. However, we are like children, and the universe is our wise mother who knows what our souls need to thrive better than we do. Just as a young child does not benefit from getting everything she wants, we also benefit from times of constriction and difficulty to help us grow and learn. If we keep this in mind, and continue to trust that we are loved even when things are hard, it helps us bear the difficult time with grace.

This period of time in history is full of difficulty for a lot of human beings, and you may feel less alone knowing you are not being singled out. There are extreme energy changes pulsing through the universe at every level and, of course, we are all part of the growing process and the growing pains. It helps if we remember that life is one phase after another and that this difficult time will inevitably give way to something new and different. When we feel overwhelmed we can comfort ourselves with the wise saying: This too shall pass.

At the same time, if you truly feel that nothing is going right for you, it’s never a bad idea to examine your life and see if there are some changes you can make to alleviate some of the difficulty. Gently and compassionately exploring the areas giving you the most trouble may reveal things you are holding onto and need to release: unprocessed emotions, unresolved transitions, or negative ways of looking at yourself or reality. As you take responsibility for the things you can change, you can more easily surrender to the things you can’t, remembering all the while that this phase will, without doubt, give way to another.

From the Daily OM

August 1, 2008
Taking The Risk
Permission To Be Real

Most of us are familiar with the idea of keeping it real and have an intuitive sense about what that means. People who keep it real don’t hide behind a mask to keep themselves safe from their fear of how they might be perceived. They don’t present a false self in order to appear more perfect, more powerful, or more independent. People who keep it real present themselves as they truly are, the good parts and the parts most of us would rather hide, sharing their full selves with the people who are lucky enough to know them.

Being real in this way is not an easy thing to do as we live in a culture that often shows us images of physical and material perfection. As a result, we all want to look younger, thinner, wealthier, and more successful. We are rewarded externally when we succeed at this masquerade, but people who are real remind us that, internally, we suffer. Whenever we feel that who we are is not enough and that we need to be bigger, better, or more exciting, we send a message to ourselves that we are not enough. Meanwhile, people who are not trying to be something more than they are walk into a room and bring a feeling of ease, humor, and warmth with them. They acknowledge their wrinkles and laugh at their personal eccentricities without putting themselves down.

People like this inspire us to let go of our own defenses and relax for a moment in the truth of who we really are. In their presence, we feel safe enough to take off our masks and experience the freedom of not hiding behind a barrier. Those of us who were lucky enough to have a parent who was able to keep it real may find it easier to be that way ourselves. The rest of us may have to work a little harder to let go of our pretenses and share the beauty and humor of our real selves. Our reward for taking such a risk is that as we do, we will attract and inspire others, giving them the permission to be real too.

July 25, 2008
Feeling Threatened
Afraid Of The Truth

Most of us have had the experience of being in possession of a piece of truth that we were afraid to share because we knew it would not be well received. There are also instances in which we ourselves have been unable to handle some truth confronting us. This might be a small truth, such as not wanting to see that our car needs repairs because we don’t want to pay for them, or a large truth, such as not fully accepting that someone close to us is pushing us away. Usually the truth is evident, and we can see it if we choose, but we have elaborate ways of hiding the truth form ourselves, no matter how apparent it is.

For the most part, we avoid the truth because it scares us, or makes us angry, or makes us feel like we don’t know what to do. We often create our lives based on a particular understanding, and if that understanding turns out to be fully or even partially incorrect, we may feel that our whole sense of reality is being threatened. It takes a strong person to face the truth in circumstances like these, and many of us run for cover instead. Nevertheless, we can only avoid the truth for so long before it begins to make itself known in ever more forceful ways.

Ultimately, there is no way to avoid the truth, no matter how painful it is, so the sooner we let down our defenses, the better. When we know the truth and accept that we may have to adjust our lives to accommodate, we are in alignment with reality. At the same time, we can be patient with people around us who have a hard time seeing the truth, because we know how painful it can be. Whatever the truth is, we make a sincere effort not to close our eyes to it, but instead to be grateful that we have access to it.

From one of my emailing lists!

What if your main job in life was simply to be happy? How would you start and end your day? What would you do this week to play more, feel lighter, more free and alive? When you choose this higher energetic frequency that's full of love, joy and gratitude, you'll start manifesting all of sorts of glorious things and experiences! With happiness, you can also overcome any constricting emotions like sadness, frustration, guilt, desperation and fear. They simply drop when you are devoted to embodying this Divine state within. Happiness is simply a conscious choice that you can make in each moment of your life no matter what is occurring in your outer world. You can always choose to appreciate who you are and what you have. You can feel this joy inside for no reason at all. Simply choose to be an unstoppable ball of light, love and joy!

"Happiness is a conscious choice, not an automatic response." ~ Mildred Barthel

Your job as a spiritual being is to go beyond playing those "unhappy roles" and step into being the Divine human being you really are. All of those unhappy thoughts, feelings are just caused by thinking patterns...they are not who you truly are. You are much bigger than a handful of thoughts, you are consciousness itself! Simply choose to see that you are always already free from needing "this or that" in order to be happy. You don't need anything or have to figure out anything in life to be happier in this moment. Simply realize the truth of who and what you already are. You are the Source of Love and Happiness itself! Once you truly realize this, happiness will find you. Surrender to your greatest experience of happiness right now. Find your most authentic expression of boundless joy and freedom and express it! This simply creates more happin ess. Once you continuously vibrate at this level, the Universe will reward you with even more satisfying experiences that snowball into manifesting even happier feelings and experiences!
"Act happy, feel happy, be happy, without a reason in the world. Then you can love, and do what you will."
~ Dan Millman

Things manifest much easier when you stop forcing them, and so is the same with happiness. You cannot force happiness by looking for things "out there" to make you more happy "in here". Simply refocus on how much joy is available from being who and what you already are. Remember, you are the God Source itself. What is better than that? You can manifest anything you want when you learn how to become more attuned to this Divine Source within. You will be well taken care of. Everything you want and need to manifest is going to manifest. All the details will take care of themselves. Just relax and be happy! Happiness is your main mission in life and it is always available. Believe it and you will see it for yourself.

"Life is a mystery to be lived, not a problem to be solved." ~Osho
The greatest secret we've discovered to experiencing a perpetual state of happiness is to remain completely present to the "now" moment in whatever activity you are engaged in. The more you can be completely absorbed by the NOW, the more your energy expands which allows you to feel higher about life! This intentional alignment with the moment allows you to access your Divine authentic self, whereas worrying about the past or future takes you directly into the grips of the ego where unhappiness is. In fact, unhappiness happens only when the ego believes that something else should be happening. When you live consistently in the present moment with your full presence, you attune to the HUM and natural rhythm of this Divine existence. There is such beauty and joy found in what is here now.
"Be a dynamo of irrepressible joy! If you are in peace, I am at peace. If you are happy, I am happy! Be happy!" ~Mahavatar Babaji

It's good to know that you can manifest anything you want easily, effortlessly and even instantly in this physical world. Manifesting is much easier than you have imagined. All you ever have to do is let your true joyful self shine. Watch out for that part of you that's stuck trying to figure it all out. Every time you try to "figure everything out", you actually constrict your energy and start operating out of the head and forget the heart. Happiness is found from living from the heart. You are not here to just live up in your head and try to figure it all of life out. If you became "Mr. or Miss Smarty Pants" you would stop growing, evolving and forget your happiness mission. The student in life always learns more than the teacher who has all the answers. Always be a student of life. Be curious! Play a little everyday and learn how to enjoy whatever you are doing. The Universe will reward you greatly.

[12:00] MurderousTrout: Attention: If you are pissed off about your shitty life or are just generally an asshole, please do not reply.
[12:00] Andi Chan 13: I will reply because my life is unshitty and I'm a pretty ok gal. ^_^
[12:01] MurderousTrout: Well that's good. Having a shitty life would be rather unpleasant.
[12:02] Andi Chan 13: yes. and unpleasant things do suck the big one. I prefer drinking chai and watching sunsets.
[12:04] MurderousTrout: I'm not a huge fan of Chai really. Not much for tea. I'm all about coffee though.
[12:04] Andi Chan 13: coffee is good. I rarely drink it but it's good stuff. I'll go for coffee flavored coffee if it's STRONG coffee
[12:08] MurderousTrout: Yeah... I have this crazy coffee machine. It was expensive but it makes really good coffee.
[12:09] MurderousTrout: Damn... now I really want some coffee.
[12:10] MurderousTrout: But it is all the way up the stairs and I am so tired and I don't feel like heading up there right now.
[12:11] Andi Chan 13: aw... but it's worth it! cooooffeeeeee...
[12:12] MurderousTrout: I agree it is pretty worth it and all I need to do is press one button and the coffee will be made... and then I will enjoy an amazingly awesome cup of awesome.
[12:12] Andi Chan 13: a cup of awesome is wonderful
[12:12] Andi Chan 13: makes Wednesdays go by fast
[12:13] MurderousTrout: It's true. Although I don't have any particular problem with Wednesdays.
[12:15] Andi Chan 13: well it's the half done-half to go thing. I like to look at it as "half done", so I'm halfway to the weekend. I guess this makes me an optimist!

Tending Your Own Energy Field
Fill Yourself from the Inside Out

Life presents us with many opportunities to gain mastery in tending our own energy fields. At times we may want to protect ourselves by using energy shields of color, light or angelic presence. Or in order to become more grounded, we may run energy down through our feet or first chakra, rooting ourselves to the earth. Sometimes it’s appropriate to play openly with others in an expansive, flowing state; and at other times, we may want to limit our availability to a chosen few. In certain public environments such as graduation ceremonies, work conventions, or even weddings, it may be important to remain open-hearted and able to connect, while still preventing our individual systems from depletion or overwhelm. In these situations, rather than putting a barrier between ourselves and the world around us, we can fill our energy fields from the inside out. In doing this, we become so filled with our own personal energy that no room is left for outside influences or discordant energy to enter in and affect us.

When you need to connect with people on a one-to-one basis, separate from the bustling environment around you, here is a visualization technique you might try. You can start in the morning and repeat any time as needed. Begin by taking a few moments to breathe deeply and relax. When you are calm and present, envision a ball of light in your solar plexus area just above your belly button. Allow it to build there, growing stronger and stronger. Eventually, allow the light to expand throughout the rest of your body until it fills your entire physical and energetic field.

By filling yourself with your own energy in this way, you become fortified with your own power. You retain access to all of your intuitive and mental abilities. And, you are able to act from a loving space in the midst of any situation.

Remembering the Moment
Enjoying Life

Life, in all of its fullness, is happening right now. While our thoughts are sometimes elsewhere, beautiful opportunities and moments are being passed over and lost to the flow of time. And though we cannot possibly fully experience each leaf that falls to the ground, sometimes we get so attached to reaching our goals that we don’t pay attention to the wonder all around us. When we do that, we live in a world that exists only in our heads, while we miss life itself. There is so much to be enjoyed and appreciated that we need to remember to pay attention to the present moment, because it is the only space in which we can experience being alive.

We learn from our past, but dwelling on it keeps us from being fully present to life in the moment. We create our lives with our thoughts, but focusing so firmly on our imagined future keeps us from co-creating with the universe, so we might never allow ourselves to live our dreams as they manifest. It’s possible to be so happy and comfortable in our inner worlds that we lose touch with the business of life. We may enjoy spending large portions of time in meditation, or focused on our thoughts.

Life must be attended to, and if we are wise, we can enjoy it at the same time. We can awaken ourselves to the moment we are living right now by taking a deep breath and simply looking around. In doing so, we refocus our attention to our location in the real world. Then we can learn to appreciate the process of working toward our goals as much as their attainment. Balancing ourselves between the present moment and eternity, we can experience and enjoy the full range of reality available to us as spiritual beings living on earth.
